how i picked out my first project
when i first started crocheting back in october, i knew i wanted to make something fun — not just a scarf or a blanket (even though those are awesome too). i wanted something small and cute that i could actually finish without getting overwhelmed. that's when i stumbled across amigurumi — the art of crocheting stuffed toys!
at first, it felt a little intimidating. tiny stitches, working in the round, magic rings — it was a lot of new terms all at once. but the idea of making a little stuffed animal or character just felt right to me. i loved that amigurumi projects were usually quick, portable, and super rewarding when finished.
after i picked the pattern, i went out and bought yarn and hooks just for that project. i wanted the exact colors and the right size hook so i could follow everything exactly. it made it feel even more exciting, like a real craft adventure.
i ended up choosing a [tiny bunny/little bear/cute ball with a face — insert what it was if you want!]. it wasn't perfect, and there were definitely some crooked stitches, but i was so proud when i finished it. that first project made me realize that crochet doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful (and fun).
since then, i've finished more projects and even shifted away from amigurumi. now i'm really into making clothes and functional items for around the home and car. it's been amazing seeing how much you can create with just some yarn and a hook — and i feel like i'm just getting started.
